Prayer Resource
With St. Augustine's Feast Day approaching this Wednesday, I invite you to draw on his wisdom regarding the practice of private prayer. This is most succinctly expressed in his Letter to Proba, who was a wealthy widow that after being displaced from the Roman capital, migrated to Carthage, and there founded a community of women religious.
Prayer Intention
St. Augustine's Feast Day is always preceded by that of his mother, St. Monica (Aug. 27). Let us pray this week for all who fall under St. Monica's patronage: for alcoholics, victims of abuse and adultery, widows, and mothers facing family difficulties.
Husbands, love your wives,

Christ the King is hosting Kings Fest TONIGHT! Please join us for an over 21 evening from 6-10pm in the field north of the school building. Drinks are provided by Indiana Beverage, and generously donated by Bare Hands Brewery and Johnson Bros. Sales. Food provided by Smilin' Clyde's. Tickets are $35 at the door. Alcohol will be an additional $1 per taste/$3 per 12oz can ($4/per large can).
We are also hosting our Parish Picnic tomorrow! There will be tacos, chips & salsa catered by Hacienda, face paint, a bounce house, a firetruck, live music, and yard games! Please join us from 11:30 -2:00 for an afternoon of community celebration. Tickets are $12 per adult, $7 per child up to max of $35 per family to help offset food costs.

Marriage is meant to last a lifetime. Sadly, too many hearts and homes end up experiencing the pain of divorce. Christ the King is proud to present the series, “Surviving Divorce – Hope and Healing for the Catholic Family.” A resource from Ascension Press, the program is written by Rose Sweet, an author and speaker on divorce, annulment, and remarriage. Surviving Divorce is a 12-week program for the newly separated and divorced and those still struggling with issues many years later. It will help them find answers to their questions, restore hope, and begin authentic healing.
The program will help participants:
- Work through the emotional upheaval of separation and divorce
- Find personal healing and hope
- Discover a deeper understanding of God’s love for them
- Gain wisdom and comfort from experts and others who share their experiences
- Navigate new concerns like custody issues, court hearings and finances
Meetings are now taking place on Wednesdays 7:00-9:00 pm in the Fr. Tripi Room (door 14 near the playground).

On Saturday, August 31 at 1:30 pm EDT, five men of Holy Cross will profess perpetual vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame:
Richard Bevington, C.S.C.; Noah Junge, C.S.C.; Br. Bobby McFadden, C.S.C.;
Aaron Morris, C.S.C.; and David Murray, C.S.C.
These men have discerned God’s call during their years in formation and are now prepared to devote their lives to God as finally-professed members of the Congregation of Holy Cross. You are invited to participate in the Final Vows liturgy either in person or by joining via livestream at this link. MASS FOR THE RETURN OF ADULT CHILDREN TO THE FAITH
Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. at St. Monica Church, Mishawaka
A special Mass on the feast of St. Augustine will be offered to pray for the return of adult children (and other loved ones) to the faith. After Mass, a rosary will be prayed for this same intention. All are welcome.
Registration is not necessary, but it is encouraged and can be done at this link.

JUBILEE ANNIVERSARY MASS AND RECEPTION
All couples celebrating their 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 65th, or 70th wedding anniversary this year, along with their families, are invited to attend the Jubilee Anniversary Mass with Bishop Rhoades on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Cathedral. A ticketed reception will follow in the school gym. Anniversary couples will receive a commemorative certificate and two free tickets to the reception. Additional reception tickets for family and friends may be purchased for $10 each. Children ages 10 and younger may attend the reception at no charge.
